A sermon by Pastor Tim Vusik from Galatians 6:1-5
The churches of Galatia were in great danger of believing that Christ was not enough - that His work on the cross and His resurrection was not sufficient to make one right with God. When Christ alone is not the sole focus, instead of being a grace-saturated community, the church becomes laced with legalism, which always results in competition, strife, discord, and envy (5:26). So, to address this issue in the church, Paul pens 6:1-5, describing the characteristics of a burden-bearing disciple.
Theme: A burden-bearing disciple relies on the Spirit to walk humbly and love diligently.
A burden-bearing disciple:
- Walks in Step With the Spirit (1a)
- Restores Others Caringly and Cautiously (1b)
- Loves Others Diligently Through Various Struggles (2)
- Understands His Own Condition (3)
- Recognizes His Own Accountability (4-5)
