A sermon by Pastor Tim Vusik from Matthew 9:9-13
What does the word “sinner” mean to you when you hear it? Would you feel comfortable beginning your autobiography with, "Hi, my name is _____. I am a sinner!"? There is something profound in remembering that you’re a sinner because it constantly drives you to your refuge in Jesus. In this passage, Matthew writes of his own conversion in which he reveals the heart of Christ, namely, His desire to forgive undeserved sinners. Matthew is not ashamed of his past in the slightest because it only serves to accent God’s grace, mercy, and love towards him.
Theme: Jesus is a Merciful Physician who came to show needy sinners the love of God and equip needy sinners to do the same!
