The Absolute Priority of Christ | Matthew 10:34-42
Sunday Feb 20, 2022
Sunday Feb 20, 2022
A sermon by Pastor Tim Vusik from Matthew 10:34-42
In the closing section of Jesus' instruction to His disciples, He continues to encourage and exhort them to make decisions in light of the big picture, in view of eternity. Not to be prisoners of the moment, choosing convenience over hardships, preserving personal relationships and temporary peace at the expense of their very souls. If we're going to be faithful disciples of Christ, He must have priority in our lives.
Big Idea: Our ultimate love and loyalty belong to Jesus, above the family or self.

Sunday Feb 13, 2022
A sermon by Pastor Tim Vusik from Matthew 10:24-33
Jesus has warned the twelve that all will reject them because of their allegiance to Him. After hearing such a warning, fear of opposition and rejection would naturally overtake the twelve, so Jesus addresses the issue of fear next. His answer to their fears is not, "Stop fearing!" Instead, Jesus deals with their value system because you fear what you value most.
Big Idea: The cure for fear of man is valuing Christ and His mission.

Sunday Feb 06, 2022
A sermon by Pastor Tim Vusik from Matthew 10:16-23
As Jesus prepares His disciples to go out, He prepares them for what's to come. Jesus doesn't want the twelve to be caught off guard. His words are clear, direct, and very sobering - "You will be rejected because of Me!"

You are Sent Out In the Name of Christ, So Be Wise (16)
You will be Rejected for the Sake of Christ, So Beware (17-18)

A sermon by Pastor Tim Vusik from Matthew 10:5b-15
Now that the twelve ordinary men are called and equipped for the mission, Jesus gives them specific instructions which ultimately focus on His person and work. In the same way that Matt 5:1-4 taught that discipleship exists to make much of Jesus, verses 5-15 teach that missions exist for the same purpose: to present Jesus as Savior and Lord! Missions belong to the Lord!

Ordinary Men; Extraordinary Master | Matthew 10:1-5a
Sunday Jan 23, 2022
Sunday Jan 23, 2022
A sermon by Pastor Tim Vusik from Matthew 10:1-5a
In Christ’s discipleship school, there’s only one major - Christ! To know Him, to love Him, to speak of Him! If discipleship were about disciples, then surely Jesus would have picked someone more presentable, more notable, more impactful than the group He chose. But He didn’t. Because the key to being a faithful disciple is not found in the disciples, it’s found in Christ.
Big Idea: Ordinary men who know and follow their extraordinary Master, will make much of Christ!

The Perfect Mediator | Hebrews 5:1-10
Sunday Dec 19, 2021
Sunday Dec 19, 2021
A sermon by Pastor Tim Vusik from Hebrews 5:1-10
High priests were crucial for the life and fellowship of the OT believer. They functioned as mediators who came in between two parties who are estranged from one another to bring in peace. The OT priests ultimately pointed to Jesus, the Great High Priest whose priesthood will be forever. In Heb 5:1-10, the author gives three reasons to be confident and draw near to the throne of grace because of the person and work of Christ.
Theme: We have confidence in God’s mercy and grace because of Christ, so draw near!
Be Confident in God’s Mercy Because You Have a Sympathetic Mediator (1-4; 7-8)
Be Confident in God’s Mercy Because You Have an Everlasting Mediator (5-6)
