O Worship the King | Matthew 2:1-23
Sunday Dec 27, 2020
Sunday Dec 27, 2020
A sermon by Pastor Tim Vusik from Matthew 2:1-23
In chapter 2, Matthew brings to the foreground the Kingship of Christ! He is no other than the promised Messiah who would reign on the throne of David, to whom every knee will bow, whether in this life or the next! Matthew calls us to honor Jesus and worship Him as King! In this text, Matthew contrasts two responses towards the birth of Christ. The enthusiasm of the Gentiles to worship, with the apathy of God’s people towards worship; the willingness of the Gentiles to act on the evidence available to them and fall down and worship the Child, with the murderous plot of Herod to try to get rid of the child! The point that Matthew makes is that King Jesus is controversial! Because He’s the king, He makes all the other so-called kings tremble and oppose His rule!

A sermon by Pastor Tim Vusik from Matthew 1:18-25
The Christmas Story is a simple story, yet it is unlike any other in history. The twists and turns, the confusion and revelation, the human and the divine - all come together in one major event which forever altered our history. It is a story of the Father’s love, of the Son’s submission, and of the Spirit’s creation.
Theme: Because Jesus is both, the Son of Man and the Son of God, He is uniquely qualified to address man’s greatest enemy - sin!
1. Jesus is the Son of Man, proved by His Natural Birth2. Jesus is the Son of God, proved by His Divine Conception3. Jesus was Divinely Conceived and Naturally Birthed to Be Our Savior

A sermon by Pastor Tim Vusik from Matthew 1:1-17
The Gospel of Matthew is a turning point in Scripture. From Genesis to Malachi, the Old Testament built up an expectation of something great that was to come. Indeed, Someone great was to be among men who would accomplish the will of God like no one had ever done before. The story of Christ, however, doesn’t begin in Matthew - the promises of Christ are carried in Scripture from Genesis 3:15 through the narratives of the prophets, priests, and kings, and are ultimately fulfilled in Bethlehem, in the Person of a little baby - the Son of God and Son of Man!
Theme: Jesus is the rightful heir through whom all the promises of God are fulfilled.
1. Jesus is the Promised Messiah2. Jesus is the Promised King3. Jesus is the Promised Seed
