How to Support Widows | 1 Timothy 5:3-16
Sunday Oct 19, 2025
Sunday Oct 19, 2025
A sermon by Pastor Tim Vusik from 1 Timothy 5:3-16.
We might be surprised by how much space Paul devotes to the subject of widows, but when we consider the heart of God, it’s not surprising at all. Throughout the Bible, God makes it abundantly clear that He sees, cares for, and loves widows and orphans. And the church, built upon the blueprint of His Sos, is called to support widows as well.
Big Idea: Because God cares for the vulnerable, the church must reflect His heart by supporting widows according to His Word.
Family Widows: Support Them Within Their Own Households (3-4, 7-8, 16)
True Widows: Support Them Within God’s Household (5-6, 9-10)
Young Widows: Safeguard Them Within Their God-Give Role (11-15)

Sunday Oct 12, 2025
A sermon by Pastor Tim Vusik from 1 Timothy 5:1-2.
If the Gospel truly saves—and it does—the church will be filled with men and women of all ages, backgrounds, experiences, and personalities. But this beautiful reality also brings relational and theological challenges that must be addressed, so Paul instructs Timothy on how to navigate them with each group.
Big Idea: Correction in the church must aim for restoration with respect toward age and gender.
Command: Don’t Strike, But Strengthen (1a)
Congregation: Don’t Strike Recklessly, but Strengthen Relationally (1b-2)

A sermon by Pastor Tim Vusik from 1 Timothy 4:11-16.
In chapter 3, Paul listed the qualifications of a pastor—the kind of man he must be to serve. But in chapter 4, Paul shifts from qualifications to preoccupations—the things a pastor must continually give himself to once he’s in the role.
Big Idea: The pastor’s focus must remain on self, the saints, and salvation.
Self: Cultivate Your Character (12, 15-16a)
Saints: Proclaim the Word to the Church (11, 13-14, 16a)
Salvation: Keep the Goal in View (16b)

Sunday Sep 28, 2025
A sermon by Pastor Tim Vusik from 1 Timothy 4:6-10.
In a church threatened by false teaching, Paul urged Timothy to stand firm and fulfill his calling—not just as a pastor, but as a servant of Christ. But what makes a faithful servant of Jesus? Though these words were written to Timothy in his pastoral role, their principles apply to every follower of Christ.
Big Idea: A good servant of Christ feeds on good doctrine and trains in godly discipline because of hope in a glorious Deliverer.

A Godly Discipline (7-9)
A Glorious Deliverer (10)

Sunday Sep 21, 2025
A sermon by Pastor Tim Vusik from 1 Timothy 4:1-5.
We don’t often hear the word apostasy today, especially outside the church. The cultural buzzword is deconstruction. The vocabulary may have changed, but the reality remains the same. That’s exactly what Paul warned Timothy about in Ephesus, and it’s exactly what we need to hear today.
Big Idea: While some in the church will abandon the faith, the church must stand firm on God’s truth and enjoy His good gifts with gratitude.

We commit to one another in the body of Christ for many reasons: wisdom, correction, encouragement, and care. We live in the most connected generation in history—yet we’re lonelier than ever. Friendship is supposed to bring joy, but many of us know the pain of betrayal, distance, or shallow connections that leave us empty. Proverbs shows us what wise friendship really is—and why we can’t live without it.
